Politburo confirms primary election results

THE ruling ZANU PF party politburo session which met this Wednesday to confirm candidates who won in the primary elections re-runs held over the weekend has ended, with focus now shifting to the roadmap for the general elections expected in July or August this year.

The President and First Secretary of ZANU PF Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa and the top hierarchy of the party saw through the extra-ordinary session of the politburo this Wednesday evening which brought finality to the primary elections, with focus now shifting to preparations for the impending general elections.

Briefing the media, ZANU PF National Political Commissar Dr Mike Bimha revealed that the party had endorsed the victorious candidates after reruns held over the weekend.

The party spokesperson Ambassador Christopher Mutsvangwa noted that the outcomes are testimony that there are no sacred cows in the party’ when it comes to democracy.

He also spoke glowingly of the successful and historic independence celebrations held in Mt Darwin this Tuesday.

The party has put a lid on candidates’ selection, with focus now centred on galvanising support ahead of the general elections expected in July or August this year where the target is to attain at least 5 million votes.
