Nomination Court for by-elections sits this Tuesday

ALL is set for the by-election Nomination Court which will sit in Bulawayo, Gwanda, Harare and Lupane this Tuesday.

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) says it is all systems go ahead of the nomination court for nine National Assembly seats that fell vacant after the Citizens for Coalition for Change recalled some of its representatives in parliament.

Bulawayo Province has a total of five vacant National Assembly seats.

These include Bulawayo South, Cowdry Park, Lobengula-Magwegwe, Lupane East, Mpopoma-Mzilikazi and Nketa constituencies.

“We are anticipating to receive nomination papers for five National Assembly seats in Bulawayo. The process has already started for candidates to be filing their papers today. We are ready as the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission for the nomination court. Our court will sit at 10am and close doors at 4pm,” said ZEC Nomination Court officer, Ms Mavis Mudiwakure.

ZBC News also observed some aspiring candidates conducting a pre-lodging exercise with ZEC officials assisting them to verify their papers.

The Nomination Court will sit at Tregold Magistrates Court to receive papers from aspiring legislators in Bulawayo.

Candidates vying for the Beitbridge West parliamentary seat will converge at Gwanda Magistrates Courts, Lupane Magistrates Courts for candidates contesting in Binga North and Harare Magistrates Court for Mabvuku – Tafara constituency candidates.

The by-elections are set for Saturday, the 9th of December.
