Mabvuku-Tafara by-election candidates bank on tangible projects

Story by Bruce Chahwanda, Political Editor

MABVUKU-Tafara Constituency candidates for the December 9 by-elections are confident of clinching the ticket to parliament, riding on the tangible projects they are pursuing in the area.

With a few days left before the Mabvuku-Tafara electorate cast their votes to choose their National Assembly representative, candidates are on the ground canvassing for support, riding on developmental work.

“Our party has done well and I’m looking for a long-term strategy where we are going to get water from Kunzvi Dam and this alone, the electorate must vote for me,” said CCC candidate, Mr Munyaradzi Kufahakutizwi.

ZANU PF candidate Cde Pedzai Sakupwanya is upbeat of victory after spearheading the provision of water through borehole sinking, sprucing up road infrastructure and refuse collection.

He said, “I think I have a better chance of taking the seat, the electorate has realised it’s mistakes in the August 23 general elections. I have done a lot for the constituency, I have done borehole sinking and facilitated the construction of roads, we have refuse trucks running the constituency at the moment and the electorate is appreciating our work. The elderly persons, we covered them.”

Mabvuku-Tafara is among the nine constituencies set to hold by-elections on Saturday after recalls of legislators by Citizens Coalition for Change Interim Secretary General, Sengezo Tshabangu.
