Electorate vows to vote for ZANU PF in urban constituencies

Story by Wellington Makonese

HARARE residents have pledged their allegiance to the ruling ZANU PF party ahead of the August 23 general elections after being impressed by the Second Republic’s development-oriented policies at a time the opposition-led city council has failed them.

With only a fortnight before the country’s general elections, the ruling party’s quest to reclaim urban seats in Harare province has been boosted by the presence of multitudes at the Robert Mugabe Square who were still making their way to the rally addressed by President Mnangagwa this Wednesday.

Besides the numbers, it was the glitz and glamour laced with the colourful dress code which made it a perfect fit for music and dance.

In that festive mood what has not escaped the electorate is the developments initiated by the ruling party-led government in Harare.

“We are going to vote for ZANU-PF because the opposition has failed in the past 23 years its time,” said a ZANU-PF supporter.

We have seen roads being developed elsewhere. It’s high time we go for a party that has tangibles,” said another supporter.

Another said,” The City of Harare deserves a party that has structures and that is pro-development. As youth we have grown to see sewer, waste, and dry taps because of selfish opposition parties. It’s time we changed that.”

ZANU PF has been conducting star rallies around the provinces to canvass for support ahead of the August 23 polls, with the electorate reciprocating with historic attendances which signals the popularity of the party.
