ZEC mobile voter education and registration continues

Story by Providence Maraneli

THE Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) mobile voter registration blitz is continuing across the country, with people from rural areas being afforded an opportunity to register.

The cyclone Freddy induced wet spell in Gwanda could not deter villagers in the Jesse mine compound in Gwanda from visiting the mobile voter registration centre set up at the local primary school.

For 20-year-old, Isabel Gama who is going to be a first-time voter this year, the excitement could not be hidden as she went through the registration process.

“I am happy that I got the opportunity to register to vote, I did not have to travel to Gwanda town, this is what used to deter some of us. I am so excited,” she said.

For the villagers, the voter education which culminated the registration was so key in encouraging them to register and check their names.

The mobile voter registration blitz programme is running from the 6th to the 29th of this month
