THE resuscitation of Ziscosteel has excited residents of Redcliff and surrounding areas who are convinced that it reflects the Second Republic’s commitment to propel economic growth and create employment under the National Development Strategy One.
Upon inception, the Second Republic made the resuscitation and growth of the economy a key priority area.
This Wednesday morning, Vice President General (Retired) Dr Constantino Chiwenga toured Ziscosteel in Redcliff, which is being resuscitated through Kuvimba Mining House, in a move expected to bolster the steel mining sector.
He also toured Torwood Clinic which has been placed among priority projects in the health care sector under the National Development Strategy One.
Addressing party supporters at Torwood Stadium, the ZANU PF Vice President and Second Secretary said the resuscitation of the key steel maker and other downstream operations such as the clinic is a government priority under the trajectory of inclusive development.
Once revived, the facilities will aid service delivery to cater for hundreds of families within Kwekwe.
The Vice President also addressed the issue of the pension fund for the 3 500 workers who were laid off by Ziscosteel as well as the title deeds for residents of Redcliff under the Presidential Title Deed Programme.
Vice President Chiwenga also spoke of the contribution of the Midlands Province towards increased wheat production.
Issues of road rehabilitation, empowerment of youths and dam construction also came to the fore as the ruling party guns for more than five million votes in the August 23 general elections.
