Restoring sanity in football administration high on the agenda

THE Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC), FIFA and the Normalisation Committee are set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding next month to spell out implementation timeframes to restore sanity in local football administration.
Having acclimatised and familiarised themselves with the existing administrative structures at the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA), the Normalisation Committee and the SRC alongside FIFA will next month put pen to paper on the road map to restore sanity at Number 53 Livingstone Avenue.
The SRC says they are committed to restoring sanity in football administration, hence they gave the normalisation committee space to familiarise with the existing structures.
“Well let me put it this way, we simply left the NC to settle down to get an idea of the task that they need to perform. I know that in this coming month, we will include a MOU involving the three parties, SRC, NC and FIFA where we will detail the various expectations of all the parties and the necessary timelines.
“You heard me a long time ago talking about a plan, an implementation plan towards the reforms and this is what the MOU will describe. We are moving in the right direction so far as the NC is concerned but our job right now is to give them space, let them understand what’s happening, and let us not dictate to them. I think they have had that space now it is now time to put pen to paper and agree on the way forward,” said SRC chairperson, Gerald Mlotshwa.
Upon lifting the suspension of Zimbabwe from world football, FIFA installed a normalisation committee to steer the country out of football maladministration, clearing the way for fresh elections to choose a new ZIFA executive.
