Palestine conducts training workshop for information officers

ZANU PF information officers who attended a two-day media training workshop convened by the Palestinian International Cooperation Agency (PICA) have applauded the agency for equipping them with necessary information dissemination skills as the country heads for elections.

The two-day training programme ended this Friday, with participants drawn from the country’s ten provinces commending the initiative for giving them guidance on the practical tools of information dissemination ahead of general elections set for the 23rd of August.

“Social media has become a very key battleground relaying political messages and as young people we have been trained to be able to effectively use social media and all media platforms to package our message so that we can deliver the election message” Evans Dhakwa from ZANU PF patriot.

Head of Delegation of the Palestine Media Team Duha al Dweik said the sessions were interactive, with the participants eager to learn.

“The number of participants was very large but the training sessions went on very well all the participants were participating in practical training sessions they were all having a lot of questions and that helped the engagement of participating in the sessions and after all gaining more information.”

Palestinian Ambassador to Zimbabwe Ambassador Tamar Almassri said his country will continue working with Zimbabwe in different aspects.

“The Palestinian international corporation has many projects and all of them are offered to be applied here in Zimbabwe, we told our Cdes and the government of Zimbabwe that we are ready for any kind of cooperation and support they want from our side, especially in building capacity and also we are ready to bring the medical teams as we have good experts in Palestine and we are ready to share all our experiences with our friendly people of Zimbabwe,” he said.

The Palestinian media team is conducting media training workshops for various organisations and media houses, with trainers providing technical capacity to media practitioners as the nation seeks to foster professionalism and responsible reporting ahead of the polls.

The training programme is being facilitated by the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services.
