Most Jameson High School students discharged

Story by Tambaoga Gora

THE majority of the Jameson High School learners who were hospitalised Thursday after collapsing under mysterious circumstances have been discharged from Kadoma District and Queen Mary hospitals.

More than 50 students and four staff members at Jameson High School in Kadoma collapsed at different intervals under unclear circumstances this Thursday.

Mashonaland West Provincial Education Director Mr Gabriel Mhumha told ZBC News that only two of the victims are still in hospital.

He said school heads from several schools and other stakeholders are conducting investigations to ascertain the cause of the incident.

Permanent Secretary for Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution Mr Josphat Jaji said while a gas leak is suspected to have been the cause of the mysterious incident no concrete evidence has been deduced so far.

He further revealed that blood and urine samples have been taken for tests that will be conducted in South Africa.

Meanwhile, the school has been temporarily closed to pave the way for investigations.
