The ruling ZANU PF party has warned land barons in the Caledonia area who are fleecing residents of their hard-earned money without providing essential services.
ZANU PF Mashonaland East leadership issued the warning at a campaign rally to drum up support for the party’s candidate in the February 3rd-by-election, Cde Washington Zhanda, in Caledonia this Saturday.
“Let me take this opportunity to warn all the land barons to immediately stop taking people’s money as this is against the law. Whoever has been engaging in fleecing the residents of their hard-earned cash will soon rot in jail. Such practices are letting us down as we seek to win the Goromonzi South seat.”
Cde Zhanda will battle it out against Reuben Chikudo and Stephen Chagwiza, both of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party.
The by-elections are being held after CCC interim Secretary General Sengezo Tshabangu recalled some legislators from parliament.
