THE Islamic Republic of Iran has commemorated the 44th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution which ushered in a framework of self-reliance for growth.
It was also an opportunity for Iran to pledge continued cooperation with Zimbabwe in various sectors.
The 44th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution commemorations in Harare this Friday attended by several members of the diplomatic corps was an opportunity for reflection on the journey the Islamic State has travelled despite the economic embargo imposed by the United States of America.
Iranian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, His Excellency Abbas Navazani noted that his country will continue to grow using its own resources, pledging to share its experiences with Zimbabwe.
“We are linked with the history of Zimbabwe in the fight against the apartheid regime, I am happy that on Sunday, Zimbabwe was in Iran, Iran is a fantastic country despite sanctions, we are supporting Zimbabwe, we have cordial relations and we will share experiences.”
The Zimbabwean government is keen on expanding lines of engagement.
Iran and Zimbabwe’s ties have been growing with the recent statement of intent being the Zimbabwe delegation’s visit to Tehran for the ninth Session of the Zimbabwe-Iran Joint Permanent Commission for Cooperation held from the 1st to 5th of this month.
Despite the US sanctions, Iran’s exports to Africa increased by 100% last year from 2020, with expectations of continued engagement in trade and economic ties.
