THE body of Archbishop Ezekiel Guti, founder of Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Forward in Faith church, arrived in the country from South Africa to a hero’s welcome this Saturday.
‘Loved and appreciated in life and death’ is the story of Archbishop Ezekiel Guti, affectionately known as Baba Guti, a man who dedicated his life to serving God.
ZAOGA congregants lined up along Airport Road to receive the body of a man they showered with words of appreciation for the legacy he has left.
“Baba Guti taught us to pray to love and to work with our own hands,” said one of the congregants.
Another said, “He taught us to be prayerful and that we should work hard to have a better life.”
“Entrepreneurship is what he taught us, he believed that one had to work hard for a better life,” pointed out another church member.
“We will forever cherish the legacy he has left us. We shall continue with his teachings,” said yet another congregant.
The church’s Secretary General, Apostle Mishael Nyambo told the ZBC News that a number of activities are lined up to celebrate Baba Guti’s life before the burial.
“Now that the body has arrived, the celebrations are going to continue with a major event slated for August 5 in the National Sports Stadium on the cards. It will be an all-night event which will see the end of the celebrations as we wait for the burial,” he said.
A homecoming church service was held for the late Archbishop Guti at the Braeside Christian Centre in Harare.
ZAOGA FIF is one of the oldest Pentecostal churches in Africa, with Baba Guti being mourned, celebrated, and remembered even beyond the continent.
He died at the age of 100.
