THE Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, has promoted Air Force of Zimbabwe (AFZ) Group Captain Fidelis Marshal Munyoro to the rank of Air Commodore.
Conferring new insignia of the rank of Air Commodore to Group Captain Fidelis Munyoro at the AFZ headquarters in Harare this Thursday, Commander AFZ Air Marshal Elson Moyo said the new appointment is a recognition of hard work and dedication to duty.
“I am happy, but at the same time sad that this promotion has come at a time when you are leaving the AFZ. You served well as you were at the forefront of many initiatives that have seen the Air Force progress well. There is a time for everything and it is time for you to go and do other things, but always be ready to be recalled for other assignments,” he said.
Air Commodore Munyoro said he will forever cherish the opportunity to serve his nation, “I am excited about the new promotion although it has come at a time when i am leaving the Force. I appreciate the opportunity that I was given to make a difference. I was with the engineering department and we did a lot to ensure that the work of the army moves forward.”
Air Commodore Munyoro is one of the few ex-combatants still serving in the Air Force of Zimbabwe after being attested into force in 1982 and rising through the ranks to his current position.
