THE Binga community has benefited from modern houses constructed by the government for flood victims in the area.
The government has confirmed the completion of 17 out of 37 housing units for flood victims in the Nsungwale area of Binga District in Matabeleland North Province while the remaining units are expected to be complete end of this month.
The ZBC News crew visited the area under Chief Sinakoma, where beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the government for intervening.
“We have never imagined living in such a beautiful house, we now have better accommodation compared to what we had before the floods and we are grateful to the government for remembering us during these difficult times. We were also employed during the construction of the houses and we made extra money as a result.”
ZANU PF aspiring legislator for Binga North Cde Kudakwashe Munsaka indicated that the ruling party is committed to improving people’s lives.
“This is a fulfilment of the mantra, leaving no one and no place behind. The people of Binga have been remembered and the ZANU PF government will continue to foster development across the country.”
The Civil Protection Department said similar projects are being implemented in Tsholotsho.
The SADC region has been experiencing climate-induced disasters such as the 2019 Cyclone Idai, causing significant loss of life and property while also setting back economic and social development.
