VENDORS at Tongogara Refugee Camp have thanked the government following the construction of a vending market in the camp after years of operating in the open.
The Government continues to walk the talk in the implementation of its inclusive development policy, with the construction of a vending market being yet another development for Tongogara Refugee Camp.
The market, which is now nearing completion, is expected to benefit hundreds of vendors who were operating in an open space where they were vulnerable to weather hazards and subjected to an unhygienic environment.
Tongogara Refugee Camp Administration, Mr Johanne Mhlanga said the development is a fulfilment of the government’s commitment towards improving the welfare of refugees and asylum seekers.
“This is yet another life-changing development for our persons of concern. As you have observed they have been working in this space which we will soon decommission and shift them to the new site. This is in fulfilment of the government’s commitment of leaving no one and no place behind,” he said.
Meanwhile, the government is implementing several developmental projects at the camp to empower refugees and make them self-sustainable.
