Global tourism takes centre stage at UNWTO General Assembly

THE 25th United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) General Assembly is underway in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

The conference is an opportunity for stakeholders in the tourism sector to share ideas on accelerated recovery after the devastating Covid-19 pandemic.

Running from the 16th to the 20th of this month, the session is the first UNWTO Assembly after the COVID-19 pandemic with about 159 member states, including Zimbabwe, attending the supreme global tourism indaba.

The Zimbabwean delegation, led by Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Honourable Barbra Rwodzi will be part of plenary sessions where deliberations will focus on areas such as tourism and sustainability, investment, and education among others.
