THE ruling ZANU PF party is pleased with the progress registered by the government in implementing agriculture projects through the utilisation of water bodies for irrigation to ensure national food security.
The implementation of various projects by the Second Republic has impressed the ruling party which has come up with various recommendations through its National People’s conferences.
In a wide-ranging interview with ZBC News in Harare this Tuesday, ZANU PF Secretary General Dr Obert Mpofu said road infrastructure and dam construction projects being rolled out by the government are key in improving people’s livelihoods.
“We are happy that most of the resolutions from Gweru have been implemented, including issues to do with agriculture and water availability. We have water bodies across the country which need to be utilised to promote irrigation, all is in order. Generally, we are very happy with what the government is doing concerning the implementation of projects,” he said.
On the forthcoming SADC summit, Dr Mpofu said hosting leaders from the regional bloc is testimony of the country’s capacity to host international events.
“There are a lot of activities regarding the hosting of the SADC Summit. It is against all odds that with detractors spreading falsehoods, we are happy that this is going to be a success. We hosted former liberation movements; it was a success.”
Zimbabwe has made tremendous progress towards transforming people’s lives, with 35 000 business units, one in each village, set to be unveiled across the country while borehole sinking projects are ensuring the precious liquid is available in communities.
