The Zunde raMambo initiative through the Climate Proof Pfumvudza/ Intwasa Programme has emerged as key to achieving household food security in communities across the country.
A field day held this Tuesday at Chief Masunda’s homestead, saw farmers concurring that the Pfumvudza /Intwasa programme has opened their eyes to methods of improving yields.
A farmer told the ZBC News, “We are very happy to meet agriculture experts because we are learning new tricks to food sufficiency.”
“We thank our president for this vision of Pfumvudza because it’s proving to be a game changer in the face of climate change,” another noted.
Leading from the front, local farmer and area traditional leader, Chief Masunda has proved that implementing the Pfumvudza /Intwasa programme is the best way to mitigate the effects of climate change.

The local leadership commended farmers who are embracing government programmes such as Pfumvudza/ Intwasa, saying such growers are pro-development.
Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Senator Larry Mavhima said, “I’m very happy to witness such an event. This has shown that leadership is not about talking without action but it’s a hands-on thing which Chief Masunda has clearly shown to us. This is commendable.”
“Agriculture remains one of the key economic sectors in Zimbabwe and has the potential to turn around the economy towards achieving Vision 2030 and in very happy our chief is leading from the front,” said Midlands Chairperson of Chief’s Council, Chief Ngungumbane.
The field day sought to inspire farmers to maximise production on their portions of land and to adopt smart strategies that can improve the quality and quantity of their yields.
