IT was a hive of activity at the Egodini bus terminus in Bulawayo this Tuesday after the facility was finally opened to the public following an eight-year closure.
The opening of the Egodini bus terminus has captured the eyes of Bulawayo residents, as they take turns to marvel at the completion of the bus terminus which was long overdue.
The project, which has taken years to complete, has ablution facilities as well as pick–up and drop–off facilities.
Commuter omnibus drivers are convinced the opening of Egodini bus terminus is the solution to the chaos that had become rampant in the city due to congestion.
“We are excited to have Egodini opening after such a long time, it will help ease the congestion in the city and prevent accidents,” said a driver.
“The opening of Egodini is very much welcome because it has been long, it will open business avenues for young people and women as well,” said a resident.
Another said, “I don’t have a stand here but I am looking forward to getting it because the reopening of Egodini will be very instrumental to business.”
Commuters further commended the cleanliness of the terminus, with calls to maintain the status quo and avert the spread of cholera.
“This place is so clean, the toilets look clean as well and we hope people keep it this clean so that we don’t get sick,” said a commuter.
Egodini bus terminus which caters for Western suburbs is also expected to be the lasting solution to illegal pick-up and drop-off points.
