Civil servants’ bonuses guaranteed

Story by Lisa Masuku

PATRIOTISM and hard work have been cited as key for the civil service to drive the country’s developmental agenda under the national vision of attaining an upper middle-income society by 2030.

This was said by the Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Honourable July Moyo this Wednesday when he officially opened the ministry’s five-day strategic planning workshop in Bulawayo.

In his address, Minister Moyo implored civil servants to be patriotic and to work hard for the success of the country’s developmental agenda.

“It is very critical for civil servants to be loyal to the President so that the country’s national vision can be implemented successfully,” he said.

With the welfare of civil servants a priority to the government, the minister assured them of their bonuses.

“Civil servants are definitely going to get their bonuses,” said Minister Moyo.

The government has on several occasions expressed commitment towards improving the welfare of its employees and continues to engage workers’ representatives in a bid to improve conditions of service for civil servants.
