Cannibal murder suspect expected in court on Monday

Story by Peter Chivhima, Courts Reporter

CANNIBAL murder suspect Thandolwenkosi Ndlovu, who allegedly killed six people on the streets of Harare, is expected back in court on Monday.

This Sunday, ZBC News engaged people living and working on the streets to find out if they had interacted with the suspect in their day-to-day activities.

“I am always on the streets but I never came across him, I only heard about him when he was arrested. It’s so sad and scary at the same time because this is someone just killing people for no reason,” said one of the people who lives in the streets.

Another added, “I only knew about this alleged murderer when he was arrested. I think this guy is not normal because how come someone eats people’s body parts?”

After having acted against his name which speaks of the love of God, Thandolwenkosi Ndlovu allegedly went on a killing spree, crushing his victims’ heads, ripping open their stomachs and eating their body parts.

Six people are believed to have fallen into Ndlovu’s trap, while chilling details of how he pounced on unsuspecting victims have sent shockwaves across the country and many are questioning his mental stability.

After his alleged actions came to light, those living and working on the streets have since come up with new strategies to secure their bases.

“What we are doing now is that if we see someone new into our base, we vet him or her before allowing that person to sleep because we are now scared of being killed in our sleep. We are being disturbed and we pray that the law will take its course,” one of the street dwellers explained.

Police are still trying to track Ndlovu’s origins as indicated by ZRP National Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi.

The murder suspect, who appeared in court on Thursday where he was remanded in custody, is expected back in court on Monday after requesting to seek the assistance of a legal practitioner.
