Bulawayo’s Luveve road rehabilitation begins

Story by Lisa Masuku

THE rehabilitation of Luveve road has started, with motorists applauding the government for prioritising one of Bulawayo’s busiest roads.

The reconstruction of Luveve road is set to enhance the safety of motorists on the road.

A motorist said, ‘‘This road was badly damaged, we are just happy to see some initiative is being taken to try and reconstruct the road.’’

Another motorist noted, ‘‘We do acknowledge the great strides being made to reconstruct this road.’’

In an attempt to transform the country’s infrastructure, the Second Republic has adopted a hands-on approach.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development Honourable Felix Mhona said, ‘‘What we are trying to demonstrate is that we are a listening government. Gone are the days when we used to work from our offices, as the Second Republic we are here to serve the nation.’’

Masiyephambili Drive is one of the major roads in the city which has been rehabilitated ever since the government took over urban roads under the Emergency Roads Rehabilitation Programme.
