TV BRICS and the Cuban Institute of Information and Social Communication to promote humanitarian co-operation in BRICS

On the margins of the international journalistic forum of media in Cuba “New Operation Truth”, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Cuban Institute of Information and Social Communication and TV BRICS.

The organisations will implement projects of multilateral programmes and events in the field of television and radio broadcasting, as well as provide comprehensive coverage of priority events in the field of humanitarian cooperation between Cuba, Russia and other BRICS countries.

The signatories were Daria Ivankova, Director of International Cooperation Department of TV BRICS, and Onelio Castillo Corderi, Vice President of the Institute of Information and Social Communication of Cuba.

“At the headquarters of the Institute of Information and Social Communication of Cuba, a delegation from the international network TV BRICS met with the leadership of the university. During the event, both parties expressed interest in establishing and expanding bilateral ties in the field of information and mass communications,” said Onelio Castillo Corderi, Vice President of the Cuban Institute of Information and Social Communication.

One of the media network’s priorities is to incorporate the news agenda of Latin American countries into the media of the BRICS states.

“TV BRICS is actively promoting Cuba’s news agenda in the media of the BRICS countries. Of course, this is possible through co-operation with local national media such as Prensa Latina. Our partners share professional journalistic materials on Cuba’s culture, tourism, economic and investment potential, which TV BRICS editorial staff adapts into the languages of the BRICS countries and distributes to the media of other countries. Co-operation with the Institute of Information and Social Communication will give this work a new impetus and systematic character”

In turn, Luisa Maria Gonzalez, Vice President of Information Policy at Prensa Latina, noted the role of the International Media Journalism Forum for the development of the media industry.
“The New Operation Truth forum was attended by journalists from 34 countries from all continents. It is very important for us to learn the opinions of professionals from different nations. Their positions on many issues of media industry development coincided. The main thing we want to achieve in the future is to continue to promote our own interests in the global media space,” said Luisa Maria Gonzalez, Vice President for Information Policy at Prensa Latina.

Cuba’s Institute of Information and Social Communication is the public administration body responsible for overseeing the government’s social communication policies.

The international media journalism forum “New Operation Truth” is timed to coincide with the 65th anniversary of Cuba’s main media outlet Prensa Latina. The event aims to make the voices of Latin America and the Caribbean heard in the international information space.
