Magadzire clinic in Mutasa Rural nears completion

Story by Kenias Chivuzhe

CONSTRUCTION of Magadzire Clinic in Manicaland Province has brought hope for improved access to healthcare services for Mutasa Rural Ward 13 as the health facility is expected to open its doors to the public during the first quarter of this year.

The dream was answered after the Meteorological Services Department first funded the project, with works starting in 2019 at the instigation of ZANU PF National Chairperson, Cde Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri who also made huge contributions towards the construction of the clinic.

Villagers who were travelling several kilometres to access healthcare services are excited about this life-changing project.

Mutasa Rural District Council officials say the project, which is nearing completion, will be opened during the first quarter of this year.

Mutasa RDC engineer Tendai Danana said, “We have completed construction of the main and small wings blocks, the waiting shed and mothers shelter home, and a house for nursing staff.”

Mutasa RDC CEO George Bandure noted, “Council made a resolution to ensure Magadzire clinic which is among projects being constructed using devolution funds is completed during the first quarter of the year. The resolution was adopted after a decision was taken that every quarter we need to give priority to specific projects that we complete.’’

The project has the full backing of the local political leadership.

ZANU PF Mutasa DCC Chairperson Washington Zihwihwi said, ” These developments are in line with vision 2030, an upper-middle-income economy, and the country’s thrust to improve health delivery in rural areas. We thank the President for ensuring such developments are realised in our district. We also want to thank the party Chairperson Cde Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri for making huge contributions towards the success of the project.”

Authorities recently decided to channel more devolution funds toward the completion of the health project.

The clinic is among many development programmes being implemented under the Second Republic to ensure no one and no place is left behind.
