THE Minister of Health and Child Care Dr Douglas Mombeshora is launching the fourth round of the polio vaccination campaign at Chinotimba Clinic in Victoria Falls.
The campaign is targeting all children below five years of age and will run from the 10th to the 13th of October. The vaccination campaign is part of the ongoing regional response to polio cases detected in neighbouring Malawi and Mozambique which started in 2022
Although no polio case has been recorded in Zimbabwe, the country remains on high alert to avoid any importation of cases into the country from neighbouring countries where cases have been reported
The national launch by the Minister of Health and Child Care Dr Douglas Mombeshora at Chinotimba Clinic in Victoria Falls signifies government leadership and a high level of commitment to the national and global polio eradication calls.
The launch is also being attended by the Deputy Chief Secretary of Social Services in the office of the President and Cabinet, Reverend Paul Damasane, the World Health Organisation country representative, Professor Jean-Marie Dangou, and other stakeholders in the health sector.
