THE second republic’ drive to ensure universal health coverage is on course with Zvamabande Referral Hospital in Shurugwi District set to be refurbished.
Under the broader national development strategy one, the second republic is on a drive to revamp and modernise health facilities across the country.
As such, government and development partners have pledged to support the refurbishment of the Zvamabande Referral Hospital in Shurugwi, much to the delight of the local community.
“We want to thank our leadership for such an initiative because it came at a time when the hospital was struggling and faced with challenges,” said Shurugwi District Medical Officer, Dr Pascall Nyachowe.
Speaking after handing over food and clothing to the hospital, Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Owen Ncube said government is duty bound to intervene in situations of need.
“We will be doing much more for the hospital because we know it is not enough. We can never solve everything in a day, but we are happy that we have managed to fulfil the pledge we made. It is government’s responsibility to intervene where there is a need. We are doing exactly that,” he said.
Government’s drive to construct and modernise the country’s health facilities is in line with a target to achieve universal health coverage.
