HEALTH services delivery in Muzarabani has received a boost through the devolution programme, following the commissioning of Nyamaridza Clinic this Tuesday.
Residents of the area say they used to travel 17 kilometres to access health care at the nearest clinic.
“I am happy that the clinic was opened. We used to travel to David Nelson Clinic, which is far but now, we have a nearby facility. I gave birth here two days ago and I even travelled on foot.” said a resident.
Another said, “I want to thank the government of President Mnangagwa for all the work he is doing for us to get access to health care openly as we are witnessing this clinic being opened, we are saying we are being positioned for better health.”
“As women, we are happy due to the opening of Nyaramidza Clinic, we used to have difficulties walking long distances to get treatment. Sometimes we used to travel to David Nelson, and we did not have transport money, others would give birth along the way, but today that is a thing of the past,” added a resident.
Mashonaland Central Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Christopher Magomo highlighted the government’s commitment towards ensuring access to health services for all in line with the National Development Strategy One (NDS1) economic blueprint.
“This clinic serves 3 000 people and most of them used to travel to other districts namely Mazowe and Mt. Darwin. Thus, under the NDS1, the government wants to build a healthy nation so that we can all reach the upper-middle-income economic status. That is the vision of our President.”
Other high-impact projects that have been undertaken through devolution funding in Muzarabani Rural District Council comprise the sinking of 16 boreholes, refurbishment of Batanai and Gumbochuma secondary schools and purchasing of machinery for road construction.
