THE Zimbabwe Youth Council (ZYC) has expanded its inclusion strategy for young people by convening provincial youth fora in all the country’s ten provinces to capture young people’s needs and concerns.
Young people in Mashonaland Central Province have called for the creation of more platforms for young people’s voices to be heard.
This emerged at the launch of the provincial youth fora by the Zimbabwe Youth Council (ZYC) in Mount Darwin this Monday.
“We witnessed the provincial youth for a, it is a forum to uplift the youth and nurture their ideas, ensure their concerns and are heard and address so we appreciate it. We are happy that the government is realising that the youth are important in the growth of the nation,” said ZYC executive director, Brian Nyagwande.
The government is optimistic the platform will be a viable tool to reach out to more youths and promote a two-way communication system.
Provincial deputy director for the Ministry of Youth Empowerment Development and Vocational Training, Mr. Byl Manyange said, “We want to run with the mantra through these youth forums. We want to gather coordination as well as gather information from all young people in Zimbabwe. On a drive to launch in every province so that we capture the wishes of the young people all over Zimbabwe. We hope through the fora we can address the challenges that have been bedevilling the young people in Zimbabwe.”
“The youth are the future, and such forums will ensure they develop as a well-coordinated and well-led constituency,” he added.
The imitative is guided by the National Youth Policy launched in 2021 focusing on four thematic areas that concern young people.
