President Emmerson Mnangagwa says Zimbabwe’s detractors have been put to shame after the country held peaceful general elections last week.
Congratulatory messages continue to pour in after the general elections which saw President Mnangagwa emerging victorious to lead the country for another five-year term.
The ZANU PF Masvingo provincial leadership met the party’s first secretary and President at State House in Harare this Thursday to convey their best wishes to the President following his victory.
The President took the opportunity to urge Zimbabweans to remain united and push for economic development after putting the country’s detractors to shame through peaceful elections.
“I thank you for coming. You’re the first province who came to congratulate me. Thank you for the work you did to ensure ZANU PF wins. There are people who wanted to see violence, but they were put to shame. I thank you for coming, what is now critically important is for us to remain united and develop our country,” said President Mnangagwa.
ZANU PF Masvingo provincial chairman, Cde Robson Mavhenyengwa said the province is proud of the work being done by President Mnangagwa who has championed inclusive development.
“We are proud of you and we say congratulations and we will stand with you,” he said.
Cde Pupurayi Togarepi, who won the Gutu South National Assembly seat, said his constituency represents the faith that Zimbabweans have in the leadership of President Mnangagwa and not the opposition.
“This is the place where Chamisa comes from and we managed to beat him in his backyard.”
With the elections having come and gone the country now awaits the inauguration of President Mnangagwa.
