The Zimbabwe women’s national cricket team, the Lady Chevrons returned to winning ways after beating Thailand by 24 runs in the first of four T20 encounters in Bangkok this Tuesday.

The Lady Chevrons won the toss and elected to bat posting a competitive 143 runs for the loss of four wickets.

Opener Sharne Mayers led the way with a brilliant 71 off 67 balls and she was ably supported by Captain, Mary-Anne Musonda who contributed 34 runs.

Zimbabwe then made light work of Thailand’s chase restricting the hosts to 119 runs in 20 overs after losing nine wickets.

It was a sweet victory for Zimbabwe who were inspired by a dominant bowling display by Audrey Mazvishaya.

Mazvishaya took four wickets for 27 runs with support coming from Precious Marange and Kellis Ndlovu who bagged two wickets apiece.

Sharne Mayers was named player of the match for her batting exploits.
