THE country’s efforts to revive the tourism sector have received due recognition after Zimbabwe made it into the top five of the most visited countries in Africa.
The rankings are compiled by international travel blog, World of Wanderlust.
The Second Republic is on a spirited drive to engage and re-engage the international community to normalise relations after more than two decades of isolation.
The world is already warming up to Zimbabwe with the destination being ranked number five most visited countries in Africa by World of Wanderlust, a travel blog whose findings have been described by tourism players as another endorsement for the destination.
“This is an endorsement for the Destination which is culminating from handwork by all concerned stakeholders to revive the sector,” said tourism player, Ms Tariro Nhau.
“Zimbabwe remains a destination of choice and the world is waking up to this reality, we urge all players to continue working together to surpass this ranking,” noted another tourism player, Mr David Phiri.
Yet another player, Mr Tendayi Nemaungwe noted, “This is good news for the country, we will see more tourists coming into the destination resulting in increased revenue and jobs.”
The blog noted that Zimbabwe’s safari and Victoria Falls are the most sought after in the country.
“This landlocked country in Southern Africa is still one of the most popular choices for safari goers in search of the big five. The game viewing in Zimbabwe is second to none, but the Victoria Falls is unlike any other,” the block remarked.
Other countries which made it to the top ten in the region include South Africa and Eswatini.
