PRIVATE sector players from Zimbabwe and Belarus will this week cement their business interactions that started in 2019 when the two parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding for enhanced mutual cooperation.

The Zimbabwe-Belarus business community will take advantage of the expected historic visit to Zimbabwe by Belarus President, His Excellency, Alexander Lukashenko to deepen their engagements on increasing industrial productivity through technology transfer.

The local private sector led by the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) has lined up a series of business meetings with their Belarus counterparts that will culminate in a business forum to cement the cooperation in the areas of agriculture, manufacturing and equipment among others.

ZNCC chief executive officer, Mr Christopher Mugaga says he is optimistic that the engagements will bring material benefits to Zimbabwe.

“We are excited as the private sector to be engaging our counterparts from Belarus where we envisage to come up with meaningful business deals that will strengthen our various sectors all for the benefit of our dear country. The engagements have been ongoing since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding last year at the ZITF.”

Zimbabwe’s agrarian and industrial reform process has benefited a lot from the Zimbabwe-Belarus economic diplomacy and the latest round of engagement is expected to benefit both countries.
