ZIMBABWE beat Namibia by six wickets at the Wanderers Cricket Ground in Windhoek this Friday to take a 2-1 lead in the five match series.

Namibia and Zimbabwe headed into the third T20 international tied 1-all after the Chevrons leveled up the series in their previous encounter, winning by five wickets.

Hosts Namibia won the toss and elected to bat, putting a total of 138 runs for a loss of six wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Chasing for 139 runs for victory, Zimbabwe had a slow start losing Nick Welch for 10 runs before Captain Craig Ervine and returning Tinashe Kamunhukamwe repaired the damage before they departed.

Once again all-rounder Sikandar Raza who put up 52 runs off 36 balls was the star of the show, while Tinashe Kamunhukamwe who delivered 36 runs provided good support.

The Chevrons found themselves claiming victory through six wickets with eight balls left to turn the tables as they now lead the series 2-1.

Both teams will be back in the field for the fourth T20 match this Sunday as Zimbabwe hope to assert their dominance and win the series, while Namibia seek to dust themselves from slumping to push for a draw.

Meanwhile, Namibia is set to host Africa’s final qualifier tournament next month which will be a decider for the two slots at the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup slated for the United States of America and West Indies.
