By ZBC News Reporter

The Zimbabwe-Malawi Joint Permanent Commission on Cooperation (JPCC) has kicked off in Lilongwe, with the two countries expected to sign agreements in various areas of cooperation.

At the ongoing JPCC, which started with the Senior Officials meeting this Sunday, Zimbabwe and Malawi are looking at deepening their cooperation in such areas as agriculture and tourism.

Zimbabwe’s team leader, the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Ambassador James Manzou and his Malawian counterpart, Mrs Mary Kachale spoke on the need for the countries to improve in the implementation of agreements.

The ongoing Senior Officials meeting will feed into the Ministers’ meeting to be held on the 30th of May 2023, with President Emmerson Mnangagwa expected in Malawi on a state visit from 31 May to 2 June 2023.

Zimbabwe and Malawi enjoy cordial bilateral relations, as reflected by the state visit to Zimbabwe by President Lazarus Chakwera, between 30 September and 1 October 2020.
