Zim law tech firm makes global impact

ZIMBABWEAN legal tech firm, Africa Law Tech has attracted the attention of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry through promoting growth of trade and investment between Africa and the United Arab Emirates.
After featuring at this year’s Qatar Web Summit in February, Zimbabwean Simba Makahamadze’s innovation of creating a platform for global access to African legal practitioners has drawn attention of the UAE.
“The Dubai Chamber which is an extension of the Dubai government is helping us with not only incorporation into Dubai, but in working with them to engage law societies across Africa, most importantly in seven African countries where Dubai Chamber has offices,” he said.
Local legal practitioners registered under the Zimbabwe Law Society are eligible to be part of the innovative database.
He added, “For legal practitioners in Zimbabwe the most important thing is that they should be licensed practitioners and that licensing comes through the Zimbabwe Law Society. The role of the law society is to verify and confirm lawyers are registered and eligible to practice, this is one key aspect our clients look at. For the legal industry we are changing the narrative, we’re changing the narrative for what it means to do business in Africa, issues of trust and issues of access. The key message that we are sending out is that Africa is brilliant and Africa is capable.”
The Dubai Chamber plays an important role in the growth of trade and investment between Africa and the United Arab Emirates.
