ZiG notes bring convenience to the public

Story by Yolanda Moyo

A wave of excitement washed over Bulawayo this Tuesday as the long-awaited ZiG notes went into circulation.

Inquisitive minds circled around those who managed to withdraw ZiG notes, eagerly passing the notes around to get a feel of the texture, while also examining the intricate designs and security features.

“We are excited to get a feel of our own money. May the people have trust and confidence in our new currency so that we can have the stability we used to know.

“There is a sense of pride holding this piece of Zimbabwe’s future.

“It is beautiful! I can’t wait to start using it. It feels like a new chapter for our country.

“There is a need to trust and have confidence in our currency and we are pleading for the government to deal with illegal money changers as they are destroying our currency, our future,” said locals who spoke to the ZBC News crew.

In Supermarkets and shops across Bulawayo, supervisors played a crucial role, as they diligently educated retailers on the new currency’s security features.

Food outlets were also accepting the new bank notes.
