THE Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) is setting up integrity committees at various state-owned entities to effectively deal with graft in the public sector.
The move by ZACC is meant to inculcate and nurture a culture of zero tolerance for corruption by setting and promoting anti-corruption parameters.
This Wednesday, ZACC commissioners led by Commissioner Jessie Majome, were at the Agricultural and Rural Development Agency (ARDA) where the agency’s management including chief executive officer, Mr Tinotenda Mhiko signed integrity pledges vowing to prevent corrupt practices at the organisation.
“As ARDA, we are undergoing a transformation which includes courting investors for our various projects to increase agricultural production. This initiative shows our determination to harness our standing as a corrupt-free institution that upholds higher standards of corporate governance,” said Mr Mhiko.
Meanwhile, Commissioner Majome noted, “ZACC’s initiative to set up integrity committees is part of our fight-to-fight corruption and a proactive way of dealing with it. So, today the ARDA management was signing pledges as an undertaking to combat corrupt practices in their organisations.”
“They are part of the integrity committees that consists of a wide selection of officials including ZIMRA so as to guide the organisation on dealing and combating corruption.”
ZACC has been in overdrive to fight corruption including seizing hundreds of millions worth of properties earned from corrupt practices, hence the setting up of integrity committees in parastatals is another step to deal with the vice.
