War veterans implored to promote values of nationalism

ZANU PF Secretary for War Veterans Cde Douglas Mahiya has implored liberation stalwarts to lead in cascading the values of nationalism in their respective communities.

The ruling ZANU PF party continues with its mobilisation drive ahead of the general elections set for the 23rd of August, with a War Veterans League meeting being held at Checheche Primary School in Chipinge to map the way forward.

The meeting was presided over by ZANU PF Secretary for War Veterans Affairs, Cde Douglas Mahiya, who stressed that liberation stalwarts have a key role to play in uniting the party and cascading its ideology to the grassroots level.

“As Zanu PF we want to ensure we win the elections. As such we are engaging our party organs including the war veterans league. This is a critical organ of the party who understand our history and ideology and should advance our interests wherever they are,” he noted.

The local leadership also spoke on the importance of unity in the party and expressed gratitude to the government after the late Nationalist, Reverend Ndabaningi Sithole was conferred with National Hero status.

“As war veterans we are committed and have dedicated ourselves to advancing the interests of the ruling party. We want to ensure we win in this election,” said Zanu PF Manicaland War Veterans Chair, Cde Linda Matatu.

“We were sharpening each other, sharing ideas and above all to reassure each other of our unwavering support for the party. This meeting was a show of unity in the party,” Chipinge South Legislator, Honourable Enock Porusingazi.

Zanu PF Central Committee member, Cde Wilson Khumbula, “As Chipinge we are so happy by the official conferment of late nationalist Rev Sithole. It was a gesture of unity and inclusivity by the President and because of that we want to ensure we also support him in the forthcoming general elections.”

All hands are on deck as Zimbabwe goes to the polls on the 23rd of August this year.
