Tour de Great Dyke tour concludes

Story by Courage Bushe

THE three-day Tour of the De Great Dyke concluded this Saturday in Zvishavane with more than 80 cyclists taking part in the 300-kolimetre cycling tour.

The Nedbank Tour de Great Dyke, which commenced in Selous on Thursday, ended in Zvishavane this Saturday with over 80 cyclists taking part in the charity event.

Cyclists who took part in this year’s event highlighted how the event plays a key role in improving the quality of sport in the country.

“We want to thank our sponsor for this event because we managed to cycle 300 km that we always see international cyclists taking,” said one of the cyclists.

Another added, “We implore other stakeholders to come on board and help in improving the standards and quality of the sport.”

One of the event organisers, Mr Munyaradzi Hwengwere weighed in saying the Tour de Great Dyke is meant to showcase to the world the beauty in the Great Dyke and at the same time help the underprivileged children supported by Gifted Children Foundation.

“Let’s remember that at the end of the day, it’s about supporting those who are gifted but are underprivileged. What we get here will go to the children’s foundation,” he said.

The Tour of the Great Dyke is an annual cycling event that was launched in 2016 to enhance awareness of the vast investment opportunities across the mineral-rich Great Dyke, and promote sustainability and wellness in the area.
