An 18-year-old man from Harare is in trouble for allegedly extorting 10 thousand United States dollars and two vehicles from an unsuspecting widow after pretending to be a traditional healer.
It is the state’s case that Donewell Kufandironi and his alleged accomplices, who are still at large, approached the complainant and told her that her husband’s wealth was accrued using goblins.
It is alleged that they went on to threaten the woman with death if she failed to give them 10 thousand United States dollars and two vehicles.
Further allegations are that the co-accused also threatened her family with death if she failed to comply with their demands.
The court also heard that the complainant gave in to the demands and gave them 3 800 United States dollars as part payment before reporting the matter to the police.
Kufandironi was remanded in custody pending bail application.
