Tajikistan to host conference on advanced sustainable water management

Story by Abigirl Tembo, Health Editor

DUSHANBE, the capital city of Tajikistan, will from June the 10th to the 13th host the Third Dushanbe Water Action Decade Conference.

The high-level international conference, co-organised by the Government of Tajikistan and the United Nations, brings together world leaders, water experts and stakeholders to tackle the pressing issue of sustainable water management.

Building on the momentum of the UN 2023 Water Conference, the Dushanbe conference aims to translate voluntary commitments into concrete action.

The Water Action Agenda, adopted at the UN conference, outlines a roadmap for achieving the water-related goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

This year’s conference will be a platform for following up on those commitments, fostering new partnerships, and accelerating progress towards SDG 6 – ensuring access to water and sanitation for all.

The conference is expected to draw a distinguished crowd, with dignitaries from across the globe confirming their attendance. Among them is Zimbabwe’s Vice President, General (Rtd) Dr. Constantino Chiwenga, who will be leading Zimbabwe’s delegation to the conference.
