Sables Academy win major victory against Zimbabwe A at Nedbank Rugby Challenge Cup

THE Nedbank Rugby Challenge Cup kicked off to an exciting start at Harare Sports Club with Sables Academy posting an emphatic victory over Zimbabwe A in a fixture played this Saturday.

Round one saw the Sables Academy thrash Zimbabwe A 52-3, while the Nedbank Junior Sables mauled Matebeleland 41-5 in a sign of complete dominance.

In other matches, Old Hararians edged an ever-improving Manicaland side 2015 in a close encounter, Pitbulls picked up from where they left off at the Paramount Garments with a 28-11 victory over Old Georgians while Harare Sports Club beat Nedbank HPC U20 19-10.

On a day that the third edition of Nedbank Rugby Challenge Cup kicked off at Harare Sports Club, the Junior Sables have learnt of their match schedule for the Junior Africa Cup slated for next month.

While they make their preparations for the continental games, the Zimbabwe Under 20 rugby team, the Junior Sables kick off their campaign on the 20th of April against North African side, Tunisia, a couple of hours after the tournament gets underway with Kenya facing Namibia at Old Georgians Sports Club.

Match day two kicks off on the 24th with the Junior Sables and Namibia squaring off at the same venue before the lads round up match day three against last year’s finalists Kenya.

Meanwhile, the preparations for the Barthes Trophy Under 20 have gone a notch up after the third edition of the Nedbank Rugby Challenge Cup premiered this Saturday.
