RG’s office announces national mobile registration exercise

Story by ZBC Reporter

THE Civil Registry Department is set to conduct a national mobile registration exercise from the first of May to the 31st of July.

The national mobile registration is aimed at providing citizens with national identity documents and enabling them to register as voters in the general elections to be held between July and August this year.

Registrar General, Mr Henry Machiri confirmed the development, urging Zimbabweans without national identity cards to take advantage of the opportunity.

“The Civil Registry Department wishes to advise members of the public and all its valued stakeholders that it will be conducting a Mop-up National Mobile Registration Exercise from 01 May 2023 to 31 July 2023.”

He added, “The following categories of persons are, therefore, encouraged to take this opportunity to register. Those who attained 18 years of age intending to register as voters; those who lost identity documents and are eligible to register as voters; and those who are 18 years and above who require both birth certificates and national identity documents.”

The mobile registration exercise will also be focusing on the issuance of birth certificates and death certificates.
