President Mnangagwa rewards brave kids

Story by John Nhandara

PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has rewarded two brave children who rescued their mother from a crocodile attack in Mhondoro in January.

The President met the two children, 12-year-old Luckmore and 11-year-old Peace Magaya at State House this Saturday.

He offered an education scholarship for the children up to university, adding an additional US$5 000 cash for each child.

One of the kids, Peace Magaya narrated how they overpowered the reptile on the fateful day, “The crocodile was dragging our mother in the water then we took a stick and started attacking the crocodile’s eyes.

The children were accompanied by Mabvuku-Tafara Legislator, Honourable Pedzisai Sakupwanya.

“The story of these brave kids touched the hearts of many as they exhibited bravery. We would like to thank the President for his gesture in offering a scholarship for the kids,” said Honourable Sakupwanya.

A video showing the brave students from Dondoshava Primary School in Mhondoro went viral in January.

In the video, the children were recounting how they heroically overpowered a crocodile and rescued their mother, who was caught in its jaws.
