President Emmerson Mnangagwa has extended congratulations the Chinese Community on the advent of their Lunar New Year which starts this Sunday.
Every year, sometime between late January and early February, an estimated two billion people across the globe, many of them in East and Southeast Asia, celebrate the Lunar New Year.
This Sunday marks the beginning of the Chinese Lunar New Year, which marks the year of Rabbit, a symbol of longevity, peace and prosperity.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa took time from his holiday to congratulate China as they it celebrate the holiday.
“On behalf of the government and the people of Zimbabwe and on my own behalf, I wish to extend warm congratulations on the advent of the Chinese Lunar New Year which marks the beginning of the year of Rabbit, which symbolises longevity, peace and prosperity.
“I am indeed delighted to join you, in celebrating this momentous occasion that marks the beginning of the season which ushers new prospects and opportunities to further strengthen our ongoing corporation,” said President Mnangagwa.
The President expressed optimism that the new season will rejuvenate and boost all weather friend solidarity that exist between the countries.
“I am further delighted that the new season offers an opportunity to solidify the strong bonds of friendship and solidarity that exit between the two countries and peoples. I wish you good health, prosperity and success in the New Year. Chun Jie Kuai Le Happy New Year.”
This year the Chinese Lunar Holiday will be marked public holiday where Chinese people get Seven days off from work from January 21 to 27 of this month.
