PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has officially commissioned the rehabilitated Mhondoro rural hospital in Mubaira.
Upgraded under a Public Private Partnership, the project is part of ZIMPLATS’ corporate social responsibility initiatives.
The project includes the construction of modern outpatient ablution facilities, construction and equipping of a new kitchen block, refurbishment of the main building and maternity ward, construction and equipping of a theatre building, construction of doctors’ quarters and the provision of mortuary equipment.
The development comes as the government is pursuing an inclusive development agenda based on the mantra: ‘leaving no one and no place behind.’
President Mnangagwa is accompanied by Vice President general rtd Dr Constantino Chiwenga who is also the Minister of Health and Child Care, ZANU PF Vice President and Second Secretary cde Kembo Mohadi, the Minister of Defence, cde Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri and the Minister of Local Governance and Public Works Honourable July Moyo among other government and ZANU PF party officials.
In the afternoon, Cde Mnangagwa is also expected to officiate at the inaugural Presidential Innovation Fair in Harare.
The fair is part of the country’s innovation agenda being spearheaded by the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development under the Education 5.0 model.
