PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa had a brief stopover in Bulawayo this Monday on his way to Lupane for the National Youth Day commemorations slated for Tuesday.

The President was welcomed at the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport by Vice President General (Retired) Dr Constantino Chiwenga, Bulawayo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Judith Ncube, Minister of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation Dr Kirsty Coventry, the Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Professor Mthuli Ncube, ZANU PF Bulawayo Provincial Chairman, Cde Jabulani Sibanda as well as other senior government and party officials.

Upon arrival, President Mnangagwa told ZANU PF supporters who gathered to welcome him that this year promises to be one of the best seasons in Matabeleland after the good rains received in this part of the country.

“I am so happy that you have come in numbers to welcome me. I was in Addis Ababa for the African Union Summit, but I had to come early because tomorrow I will be in Lupane for the 21st February National Youth Day,” said the President.

The theme for this year’s National Youth Day commemoration is: ‘Drug And Substance Abuse: A Threat To Vision 2030, Every Community’s Responsibility’.

The theme resonates with the government’s stance against the menace of drug and substance abuse.
