THE Chancellor of the Midlands State University (MSU) President Emmerson Mnangagwa capped over 8 000 graduands at the institution’s 24th graduation ceremony in Gweru this Friday.

MSU Vice Chancellor, Professor Victor Muzvidziwa said the university is fulfilling its mandate through harnessing innovation and entrepreneurship.

Graduands who spoke to ZBC News could not hide their joy after a long journey of hard work.

“I’m happy to graduate and I’m the first one to do so in our family. I am now a degree holder of computer sciences and I’m eager to go into the field and share my skills and transform livelihoods,” said one of the graduates.

Another added, “What we got here will not end here, you heard about industrialisation that’s what we are going to do. We are there to complement government efforts of Education 5.0.”

Of the 8 332 who graduated, 4 507 were female and 3 825 were male.

The graduates included ZBC News Matabeleland North Bureau Chief Mhlomuli Ncube, Manicaland provincial reporter Tamuka Charakupa and cameraperson Bright Black who graduated with Master’s degrees in digital media studies.

Chiredzi-based reporter Gay Matambo graduated with a Master’s degree in Film, TV and Digital Technologies.
