One of Iran’s largest media groups joins TV BRICS

TV BRICS – Media from new BRICS countries continue to join TV BRICS. The partnership includes Iran’s media company Mehr Media Group, consisting of Mehr News Agency and The Tehran Times, one of the most popular international newspapers in the Republic.

The co-operation will ensure the integration of Iran’s humanitarian and economic agenda into the BRICS information space.

Representatives of Mehr Media Group signed the agreement while at the 24th Iran Media Exhibition.

Some 600 media outlets, creative groups and companies are taking part in the event. Among the objectives of the exhibition is to promote and strengthen the country’s media industry.

The signatories were Mohammad Mahdi Rahmati, CEO of Mehr Media Group and Janna Tolstikova, CEO of TV BRICS.

“TV BRICS International Media Network is devoted to the mission we declare – to develop a mutual information space of the BRICS countries. Mehr Media Group is undoubtedly one of the influential media outlets in Iran. TV BRICS is an information hub that aims to effectively disseminate the news agenda of each member state of the organisation.

“The launch of the partnership with the Iranian media company will contribute to the integration of the news flow from Iran into the structure of international information exchange. The materials of Mehr Media Group journalists will enrich the BRICS information landscape and allow the network audience to better understand Iran’s culture, traditions and way of life. Undoubtedly, the new agreement between Mehr Group and TV BRICS will lead to the successful achievement of common goals,” Tolstikova said.

The CEO of Mehr Media Group, Mohammad Mahdi Rahmati, said that collaborating with this rapidly growing media outlet, which benefits from the unique capacities of BRICS member countries, promises joint media activities in the fields of economy, technology, sports, culture, and tourism.

“As the Mehr Media Group, we aspire to become a significant part of the media landscape of TV BRICS, encompassing both the production and distribution geography of media products,” he said.

Mehr News and The Tehran Times are important news providers in Iran. These media outlets have access to exclusive information from primary sources and material directly from the government of the republic.

Mehr News has five regional centres within the country, as well as a corset in Europe, South America, Asia and some Persian Gulf coastal states and CIS countries.

The agency publishes audiovisual content in six languages – Persian, English, Arabic, Turkish, Urdu and Kurdish. It has 300 reporters and photographers working in 30 provinces of the country. Mehr News thus provides the widest coverage of news in Iran.

Iran’s first English-language daily newspaper, The Tehran Times, began operations in 1979. Today, the publication is read in 80 countries. The newspaper has a political, social and community focus. It also covers international news.

It should be recalled that following the XV BRICS summit in Johannesburg (South Africa), it was decided to invite six new countries, including Iran, to join the association. However, later Argentine President Javier Milei notified the members of the association of his refusal to join the group.

Earlier, another media outlet of the new member country, Egypt, became part of TV BRICS. In October, a co-operation agreement was signed with the agency  Daily News Egypt.
