Nyemudzo’s application for discharge dismissed

Story by Tamuka Charakupa

Disqualified ZANU PF Chipinge South aspiring candidate, Robert Nyemudzo who is facing charges of brewing illicit beer is expected back in court this Wednesday.

He will be back in court for continuation of trial after the presiding magistrate dismissed his application for discharge at the close of the State’s case.

The court noted that the prosecution has managed to prove that they have just cause to try the accused, hence there is need for Nyemudzo to be put to his defence.

Nyemudzo had applied for discharge, arguing that the State had failed to prove a case against him.

He further argued that he was being set up by his political rivals whom he accused of planting the illicit brew at his house to tarnish his image.

Police officers who testified against Nyemudzo told the court that the beer samples they confiscated from Nyemudzo’s house contained harmful alcohol percentages, proving that it is an illicit brew.
